Anchor Cleat 2
Anchoring your float tube permits more successful chironomid fishing.  And every single tuber we know grumps about how fussy it is to tie off their anchor and find somewhere to put the anchor bag.  Not any more… this attachment, which now comes with all new Float'n Tote rod holders, allows you to deploy your anchor and secure it.  A d-ring at the top lets you clip the anchor bag to the cleat.  Just drop your anchor, cleat the line, and fold the anchor bag underneath your stripping apron, out of the way, and out of the water.  Anchor Cleat 2  fits on the top section of the holder saddle, but its design allows it to be used on either the left or right hand side of a float tube, the same as the holder itself.  Reversal from one side to the other is as simple as un-threading the strap, turning the cleat upside down (pointing the arrow design the opposite direction) and re-threading the strap.

The Anchor Cleat 2 is now included with new standard Float'n Totes at no additional charge.  If you already have a Float'n Tote, and would like to add this cleat to it, drop Hook Set a line.  We'll be happy to arrange shipping one to you, with a nominal handling charge.

Under Development

We know some users have pontoon boats, but the Float'n Tote is designed to fit nicely to the outside of a float tube, centred on the mid-line, but this positioning is problematical for pontooners.  If it's mounted on the outside of the pontoon, it can get in the way of oars, and if it's on the inside, the frame makes for very limited positioning options.  So, Hook Set has invested in a pontoon boat, and over the latter part of March, has built some holder variants for testing.  The design is promising, and retains the unique pivoting action that makes the holder so pleasant for tubing.

We've enlisted the aid of a tester who typically crams more pontoon fishing into a month than most of us do in a season.  This is a man who once took a month off to fish the Baja coast, and thought nothing of often getting dumped and rolled in the surf while attempting to get out past the waves....  We imagine if the design gets his thumbs up, most of us will be pretty happy with it!
We'll keep you posted.......

Update June 2007:  The design is getting thumbs up from testers.  We are proceeding to order a small amount of the anodized brackets from a machinist, and a very small batch of pontoon holders will be made by the end of June, hopefully.  It will be a while before this works through to the retail level, so if you really, really, want one for this season, contact us directly!
